Historical background:

In the early days of colonizing the New World, settlers needed durable, mobile boats to explore unknown territories and make contact with local tribes. These boats, previously built in Europe, were transported across the Atlantic in sections and assembled on site.

The model references the expedition of Captain John Smith, who, together with a 14-man crew, covered more than 1,700 miles in 3 months while exploring the east coast of North America. His journey also went down in history thanks to his meeting with Pocahontas, the daughter of an Indigenous chief.
