Catalina – Dutch Lemsteraak yacht
The first Lemsteraak-type yachts were built in 1876 at the Gebr. shipyard. De Boer in Lemmer, Friesland.
Lemsteraak boats were originally used as fishing cutters in the northern waters of the then still-open Zuiderzee, a body of water known for its harsh weather conditions, especially when sailing against the wind and current.
For this reason, these vessels were designed as exceptionally capable seagoing yachts with outstanding seaworthiness. Their smooth, elegant lines have made Lemsteraaks some of the most beautiful and best-sailing traditional Dutch yachts.
