HM Brig Harpy was a Diligence-class brig-sloop of the Royal Navy. Zwodowana w 1796 roku, została sprzedana w 1817 roku. She was the longest-serving vessel of her class and the one that completed the most voyages.
She took part, among others. in the Battle of Copenhagen and the British invasion of Java, she took part in many skirmishes—one of them earned the crew a clasp to the Naval General Service Medal. She also captured numerous privateers (corsair ships). The navy sold it in 1817.
Commander Henry Bazely took command of Harpy in April 1796. and deployed her for service in The Downs. Harpy belonged to the squadron that captured the vessel Augustic and recaptured the ship Nelly on 20 August, entitling Harpy to a share of the prize money.
The harpy had an intense and illustrious career. You’ll find the ship’s detailed history in the instructions included with the model kit.
