Marseille – French naval gunnery training ship (1764)
The model depicts a French schooner from 1764, reconstructed based on original period plans. It was a specialist vessel intended for training naval gunners.
The vessel was equipped with 24 three-pounder cannons mounted on special carriages attached to the sides, along with 2 stern cannons of the same class. Another distinctive feature is the pair of six-point cannons, which in combat were mounted on guides allowing 180° rotation without the use of wheels—an innovation in gunnery training.
Marseille served as a training ship for naval gunners.
