Vessel history
The pinasse was a sleek 17th-century merchant vessel with flush-deck rigging—fast and easy to handle. It served the Republic of the United Provinces on long-distance trading voyages around the world. It could carry a substantial cargo while also being well armed to protect the goods and crew.
This model was developed based on Nicolaes Witsen’s original 17th-century description, faithfully reflecting the shipbuilding practices of Amsterdam shipyards.
