The model depicts an English pinnace from the 1750s–1760s – a light, sleek clinker-built (carvel) rowing boat. The pinnace was mainly used to transport the captain and officers between the anchored ship and the shore. Heavier boats, such as the longboat or launch, were used to transport the crew and supplies.
The 1:24 scale model was designed by Chuck Passaro, a renowned ship model designer. It is inspired by original vessels held in the collections of the National Maritime Museum in England.
