The Baltimore privateer schooner Grecian 1812
The Grecian was an American schooner launched in 1812. During the War of 1812, she received a letter of marque. She was captured by the Royal Navy on 5 February 1814 and commissioned into service as HMS Grecian. It was sold in 1822.
In 1823, it became a merchant vessel. In 1824, it was captured by the Chilean navy, but it managed to escape. Later, she may have served for a time as a Spanish privateer.
After the Peruvian War of Independence, Grecian most likely returned to more conventional trading duties. She likely sank in 1829, although in 1830 she was still listed as an active vessel on the London–Lima route.
