Soleil Royal is one of the finest warships of the Baroque era, built between 1668 and 1670 in Brest by the engineer Laurent Hubac. Named after King Louis XIV’s personal emblem—the Sun—it served as Admiral Tourville’s flagship and was a proud representative of the French fleet during the Nine Years’ War.
Initially armed with 104 guns, and later with as many as 112 guns and 1,200 sailors, it impressed not only with its power but also with its fabulously ornate carved stern, regarded as one of the finest masterpieces of 17th-century naval art.
The Soleil Royal model in 1:72 scale is one of the most detailed recreations of a ship of the line in the history of model making. Created by Artesanía Latina with meticulous attention to every detail, it is based on available historical sources and reconstructions.
