Warship Vasa – Artesania Latina

Vasa is one of the most famous ships in European history – a symbol of both ambition and tragic miscalculation. Built from over a thousand oaks by order of King Gustav II Adolf, it was meant to fight in the Thirty Years’ War as the flagship of the Swedish fleet.

Armed with 64 bronze cannons, sails with a total area of 1,150 m², and a displacement of 1,200 tons, Vasa was the most powerful warship of its time. Unfortunately, it sank after just one kilometer of sailing, still in Stockholm harbor. It wasn’t recovered from the bottom of the Baltic Sea until 1961, and today it can be admired at the museum on the island of Djurgården in Stockholm.

The Vasa model in 1:65 scale is one of the most detailed historical ship models on the market. It stands out for its exceptionally ornate stern decoration, featuring hundreds of carvings depicting biblical figures, Roman emperors, Greek gods, and mythical sea creatures.
